Horchata, pronounced [ or-CHAH-tah] is a traditional Mexican beverage with the flavor of sweet rice and hints of almonds and cinnamon. The origins of this drink come from Egypt where they originally used the chufa nut to make Horchata. During ancient times, the drink made its way to Spain. When the Spaniards brought the drink to Mexico during the New Spain era, the natives used rice to make this drink.
